Three curved thoracic left-scoliosis after tethered spinal cord surgery

چکیده
Background The case study describes a patient with scoliosis after tethered spinal cord-symptomatic was surgically resolved at the age of 21⁄2 months. At that time, the Cobb angle of the thoracic curve was 32°. At the age of 30 months a three curved thoracic left-scoliosis with a Cobb angle of 80° with serious shape-shift in frontal and sagittal level appeared. At the age of 41⁄2 years the patient was fitted with a Rigo-Cheneau corset, which guided the breath into the right side.

Segmental vessel ligation in patients undergoing surgery for anterior spinal deformity.
Segmental vessel ligation during anterior spinal surgery has been associated with paraplegia. However, the incidence and risk factors for this devastating complication are debated. We reviewed 346 consecutive paediatric and adolescent patients ranging in age from three to 18 years who underwent surgery for anterior spinal deformity through a thoracic or thoracoabdominal approach, during which 2...

BACKGROUND Tethered spinal cord is frequently associated with scoliosis. It is still controversial whether a prophylactic untethering is necessary before correction procedure in scoliosis patients with tethered spinal cord. In this study we determined the clinical outcome of a one-stage posterior scoliosis correction without a prophylactic untethering for treating scoliosis with an asymptomatic...
متن کاملSYMPOSIUM: EARLY ONSET SCOLIOSIS Early Definitive Spinal Fusion in Young Children
Background Early-onset scoliosis, when left untreated, leads to severe deformity. Until the last decade, treatment of progressive curves in young children often consisted of definitive spinal fusion. The recognition of thoracic insufficiency syndrome associated with definitive early fusion has led to the development of new surgical techniques developed to preserve spinal and thoracic growth in ...

[Purpose] In a pilot investigation, extracorporeal shockwave therapy was applied to patients with idiopathic scoliosis. This case report aimed to describe the effects of repeated extracorporeal shockwave therapy on the clinical signs of a patient with scoliosis due to a functional tethered cord syndrome. [Subject and Methods] In June 2016, a 13-year-old girl presented with a left thoracic curva...
متن کاملSegmental pedicle screw fixation for a scoliosis patient with post-laminectomy and post-irradiation thoracic kyphoscoliosis of spinal astrocytoma.
Spinal deformity is an important clinical manifestation after surgery for spinal cord tumors. One-third of patients who receive laminectomies and irradiation of the spinal column develop scoliosis, kyphosis, or kyphoscoliosis. Recent reports indicate good results after scoliosis surgery using segmental pedicle screws and a navigation system, but these reported studies have not included surgery ...
